Can One Change the Faith Easily?: The Greco Catholic Clergy of the Halych Metropolitanate Facing the 'Reunion' with the Russian Orthodox Church

Abstract

The paper examines the main concerns of the Greco Catholic clergy forwarded during the deanery meetings of the so-called “Initiative group for the Reunification with the Russian Orthodox Church” and particularly the position of monastic priests. I will further look at the argumentation of Greco Catholic priests for their resistance to the “reunion” with the Russian Orthodox Church and present their attempts to maintain existence of the Greco Catholic Church in the Soviet Union.
