Abstract

The narratives and meanings that faculty members used to describe themselves as professionals provide key elements to humanize the traditional approach used to study the academic identity. This reconceptualization, the academic professional identity (API), considers the academic identity is a polymorphic entity constructed by personal, professional, and institutional meanings.
