Influence of Non-Cognitive Attributes of Self-efficacy, Outcome Expectations, and Interest on STEM Degree Completion Outcomes

Abstract

This study seeks to understand the relationship between students’ non-cognitive attributes (i.e., self-efficacy, outcome expectations, and interest) and STEM degree completion in four-year colleges and universities. Preliminary results indicate students with strong interest, high self-efficacy, and mid-level outcome expectations are more likely to persist and complete degree in STEM field.
