Examining Retention, Promotion, and Tenure Policies for Commitment to Diversity

Abstract

University policies maintain the status quo through perpetuation of white standards and values. This paper examined retention, promotion, and tenure policies to understand how the university’s values of diversity were articulated. Findings demonstrate that diversity is not valued in RPT policies, and that commitment to diversity is non-performative (Ahmed, 2012).
