Proposing Categories through which to Study Privatization

• In Event: The Role of Government Funding in Institutional Decisionmaking

Abstract

This paper aims to fill a gap in the literature by identifying categories and measures that structure research on the ways in which public research universities respond to state funding cuts and pursue strategies of privatization. To identify these categories, the paper analyzed the academic literature and higher education data.
