Abstract

No studies have been conducted in how medical schools are situated within the larger context of higher education. By using the theory of academic capitalism, similarities/differences can be explored in how medical schools’ organizational behavior and priorities compare to traditional colleges/universities in their pursuit of prestige, competition, and power.
