Growth from Abroad: Women in U.S. STEM Graduate Programs, 2004-2014

Abstract

We examine enrollment trends in U.S. STEM graduate programs among foreign women. Enrollment changes among foreign women were especially high in computer science (113 percent) and engineering (88 percent) between 2004 and 2014. Meanwhile, there was a net loss of U.S. women in both computer science and the social sciences.
