Academic Advising in the Third Space

Abstract

Academic advising has the greatest impact on student retention. To have an effective advising appointment, an authentic interaction between the advisor and student must occur - creating a "third space". This paper utilizes the theoretical framework of Third Space to analyze the discourses of an advisor and student.
