But Why Really?: The Impact of a Humanities PhD for Non-Tenure-Track Degree Earners

Abstract

This study seeks to identify the value of a PhD in the humanities for non-tenure-track careers beyond financial and skills-based gains. Researchers conduct a diary study with seven prompts from participants in three groups: graduate students, working individuals who left PhD programs, and PhDs at work outside of tenure-track positions.
