Assessment of an Institutional Campaign to Increase First-Semester FTIC Student Course Load: Differential GPA Outcomes across Student Socioeconomic Status

Abstract

Using institutional data, this project investigates how first-semester GPA outcomes varied under an academic engagement campaign at a public research university. OLS analysis identifies that students taking 13+ credits scored 0.24 GPA points higher than their peers (p<0.001). However, Pell-eligible students performed 0.07 GPA points lower than their peers (p<0.01).
