This presentation will detail the work involved in executing the 2+ year Mellon Sawyer Seminar on the theme "Creative Placemaking, Black Restorative Ecologies, and Black Spatial Futures" at Georgetown University. Grant programs included a bi-weekly reading group, mentorship of fellows, planning and execution of two symposia (one for grad students and one for faculty at a wide array of institutions), a trip to the NMAAHC, a trip to a 53-acre Black-woman-owned farm, and multiple speaker events. The presentation will include both intellectual and administrative insights gained during the work of centering and celebrating Black placemaking and restorative Black ecological practices.
