The Reflecting Infinity Pool: Currents and Transformation of Connected Resistance

Thu, October 30, 12:00 to 1:30pm, Marriott St Louis Grand, Landmark 7

Description for Program

The Reflecting Infinity Pool: Currents and Transformation of Connected Resistance, aims to address the continuous legacy of Blackness beyond the borders of America and the limitations placed upon us, as a community. In the wise words of Talib Kweli, “reflection is eternal” and so is our ability to thrive not just despite, or in spite of, but simply because we are 5/3. In the same fashion of water, we are the calm but furious…awe-inspiring and breath-taking…life-bearers and life-takers when stirred. Just like the water, our connection extends beyond the borders and shores which our ancestors were stripped from and connects us like connective tissue beyond our blues. In times of revolution, we have always explored the connections which we shared and spread the message in similar fashion as the note in the bottle sailing to find its next host. The strength lies not in our division, rather in our connection. As we see a call to take back globally the power stripped through external invasions, enslavement, colonialism, and neo-colonialism through what is being called the African Spring. Enduring legacies of liberation showcases the truth and waves of consciousness dictate a new horizon on the brink, where visions of a Black Star Line no longer sail away but anchor us to the tune of power. May we reflect on the infinite limits of a pooled vision, allowing us to hop leaps and bounds to the rightful throne of our wisdom, wealth, and most importantly peace. Whether you are a branch of the Diaspora in the Isles of the Caribbean, across the pond in Europe, in the Americas or the motherland continent itself; our bonds extend beyond trauma rather than resilience, overcoming, and revolution. May water continue to be our global ecology.
