The History of Technology and Education in the age of Internet

Abstract

Technology has historically shaped how education is facilitated in classrooms across the US. This article addresses the advances in technology in the classroom, educational solutions, privacy acts, and policies in place to protect minors. Popular culture has proliferated the internet and challenged the way that educators adopt technology in the classrooms. The Constructivist theory is applied as the implications of technology can challenge perspectives when access is not carefully censored. Constructivist theory encourages individuals to interpret and organize experiences and discover principles independently. The cognitive process is impeded upon as technology, and internet access opens the world of communication in classrooms. Briefly, this paper discusses some drawbacks of having access to the internet and closing the gap of the digital divide.
