Abstract

Jonathan Handel practices transactional enter¬tainment and technology law at TroyGould in Los Angeles and independently. He is also chief strategy and legal officer at entertainment tech startup WIO LLC, was a contributing editor for The Hollywood Reporter from 2010-2020, and is an adjunct professor at Southwestern Law School and previously at USC and UCLA. He is a Rutgers research fellow and a creative writer, and was formerly a computer scientist, outside Special Counsel to SAG-AFTRA and associate counsel at the Writers Guild. In his keynote he will address how SVOD has changed everything, accelerating mergers and acquisitions, threatening theatrical exhibition, and upending residuals and profit participations. With creative inspiration from Lewis Carroll and William Shakespeare, he will not only address those topics, but also look at near-term and distant tech advancements.
