Based on the theoretical-methodological approach of academic literacy studies (Lea & Street, 2014; Curry & Lillis, 2013), this work aims to investigate the perceptions of Brazilian university students – Master's and Doctoral candidates or students already enrolled in graduate courses – regarding scientific practice. The data was collected between April and June 2023, in a consortium course between three universities and four graduate programs in the field of linguistic studies and education. This set is made up of two activities, namely (i) 42 letters of intention presented as a textual production within the framework of the discipline, in which the students had to answer, among other sections, the question "To what extent did I choose to study what I study?"; (ii) 42 questionnaires made up of 26 open and closed questions on perceptions of national and international scientific practice. The analysis, descriptive and interpretative in its scope, will focus on the study of the perceptions that these students have about doing science amid the injunctions of scientific discourse in academic-scientific literacy practices, in the relationship between disciplinary domains. Thus, we hope to discuss the contemporary heterogeneity of students in the face of institutional demands and the role of agency and autonomy in teaching and learning processes. This work is associated with broader research funded in Brazil by the São Paulo Research Foundation/FAPESP (process n. 2022/05908-0), the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development/CNPq (process n. 407.593/2021-7) and the CAPES-COFECUB Program (Brazil-France, process 88887.712049/2022-00).
