Abstract

This panel explores the causes, context, implications and legacies of the 2013 Kiss Nightclub Fire in Santa Maria, RS. Papers include a "social autopsy" of major factors contributing to the fire's mortality and shaping its legacy, an analysis of contrasting understandings of inevitability and fate in relation to the fire, and critical analysis of tone and affect in journalist Daniela Arbex's book on the fire.
