2024 Brazil Teachers Survey: Findings and Next Steps

Fri, April 5, 11:00am to 12:45pm, Aztec Student Union, Union 2 – Templo Mayor

Session Submission Type: Complete Panel

Abstract

This panel will report on a Brazil Teaching Resources Survey conducted this year. The survey's goals were: (a) to establish a network of people who teach about Brazil; and (b) to brainstorm resources (teaching materials, guest lectures, etc.) that would support teaching about Brazil. The short survey consisted of questions about the scope of respondents' teaching about Brazil and their thoughts on resources that would support this work.

The idea for the survey came out of discussions at a meeting of the United States Network for Democracy (USNDB) in December 2022. Ben Junge from the State University of New York at New Paltz is coordinating the effort, with input from several other Brazil teachers and scholars. The survey is a first step to gauge the level of interest and expressed needs of instructors who teach about Brazil.
