Elizabeth Buckner will draw on her multiple perspectives on teaching and learning in CIE –both as a student at the undergraduate and graduate level, and as a teaching assistant at the graduate level. As an undergraduate student, Elizabeth was able to combine her interest in international education, language education policy, and educational studies through her undergraduate honors thesis, which drew on research she conducted as a study abroad student in Morocco. She will discuss the role of the thesis as a platform that allows undergraduates to combine disciplines, pursue individual interests, and gain concrete research and writing experience, all of which pave the way for future opportunities – including post-graduate opportunities abroad and graduate studies in Comparative and International Education. She will also discuss her perspectives on the differences in scope and focus required in transitioning from undergraduate to graduate studies.
