Many countries are attempting to make their education systems more inclusive. Planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating these policies requires good quality data within a country’s Education Management Information System (EMIS). Most importantly, data must include both children’s functional difficulties, and information on the school environment such as infrastructure, materials, communication and teacher training. After a brief review of how EMISs around the world currently include disability, the chapter summarizes guidance in this area from UNICEF. A case study from Fiji is then presented which represents a current best practice in developing countries. The chapter concludes with recommendations for designing an inclusive EMIS.
