Proposal

Dr. Andrade will present the findings of this study both by country and at a regional level. This regional research study will provide insight into EGL focused pre-service teacher training programs based on a framework built from the existing evidence, which will enable an objective evaluation of the programs’ strengths and weaknesses at the national and regional levels. The results will help inform recommendations for restructuring pre-service programs to better align with current evidence on successful EGR pedagogy (methodology and technologies), cognitive development, and basic EGR skills. This will help address one of the many gaps the region’s classrooms, where there is currently a disconnect between what evidence shows should be taught, and how it should be taught in the early grades and the reality of what and how teachers are currently equipped to teach EGL.
