Proposal

How are communities and schools working together to increase parent engagement as part of Tusome Pamoja’s early grade reading program in Tanzania?

Mr. Salisbury will describe the methods and first-phase findings of the Rapid Feedback Study being conducted by the Rapid Feedback MERL Consortium in Tanzania. He will first discuss the methodology for this study, which has included both rigorous quantitative and qualitative data collection in 41 communities across the Morogoro and Iringa mainland regions of Tanzania, and all five regions of Zanzibar. Interviews have been conducted with 18 different respondent types across all tiers of the education system, and this has provided a substantial breadth and depth of understanding of how the Tusome Pamoja community engagement activities have been implemented. Mr. Salisbury will also discuss how the findings from this RF MERL approach have helped generate new research questions to be addressed in the upcoming round of data collection.
