Where Have All the Students Gone? Tracing the Lives and Livelihoods of Graduates of USWDP Supported Academic Programs in Afghanistan

Proposal

This study involves a two-stage analytical framework that relies on simple descriptive analyses in the first stage, which summarizes the graduates of both USWDP-supported academic programs and graduates of other academic programs, followed by a multivariate quasi-experimental design to identify program effects. The study analyzes participants’ labor market outcomes in terms of employment, earnings, type of employment, sector, and level of match with their reported major of study. An analysis of the alumni’s performance on self-efficacy is also provided. The study provides information to measure and compare the labor market performance and self-efficacy of USWDP-supported graduates to similar non-USWDP-supported graduates. The presentation addresses the education and income productivity theme of CIES 2019.
