Proposal

Part I In-Service Teacher Professional Development: The De Lectores a Líderes and the Asegurando la Educación projects collaborate in about 55 school communities in urban areas with high rates of crime and violence in Honduras. The projects work collectively in these communities to improve early reading outcomes in primary schools and to improve safety in the schools and communities in order to maximize opportunities to learn, Both projects collaborate with the Ministry of Education’s General Directorate of Professional Development at the central and regional levels in order to design, plan, and implement capacity building programs for teachers and educational leaders in these communities aimed at reaching the shared goals. This presentation will provide an overview of the learning to date in this shared endeavor. It will highlight challenges encountered and shared solutions as well as adaptation and innovations. The Ministry of Education counterparts will share their unique perspective on these processes.
