Session Submission Summary

Building sustainable relationships in the practice of comparative & international education research

Tue, April 16, 8:00 to 9:30am, Hyatt Regency, Floor: Bay (Level 1), Bayview B

Group Submission Type: Refereed Round-Table Session

Proposal

Research in comparative & international education has addressed issues related to sustainability in multiple ways, including the outcomes of educational interventions and sustainability of educational practices. Less examined is the sustainability of research practices, in particularly as these relate to the nature of relationships developed and maintained among researchers and participants in empirical inquiry. To that end, this roundtable seeks to address a number of questions related to the sustainability of researcher-participant relationships, both as these manifest at the micro-level and in terms of the way that external conditions (e.g. economic disparities, political contexts, geographic distance) shape possibilities for relationship-building.
