Proposal

This panel is composed by scholars who study learning and resistance from a post-colonial, post-national (Heller, 2011), subaltern feminist perspective. The purpose of such panel is to advance concepts and practices capable of bringing epistemological justice (De Sousa Santos, 2016) to the field of migration and comparative education. At CIES, research on migration has commonly been associated to specific geographies. However, we argue immigrants’ knowledge and education transcend not only national borders but hegemonic epistemological notions. We think it is this borderless (Anzaldúa, 2012) education that allows immigrants to reimagine spaces that compensate for lack of legal and epistemic recognition
