Action research to scale innovation

Proposal

To teach International Baccalaureate(IB) programmes, schools must get reauthorized (an evaluation process) every five years. In order to support more learning and improvement oriented evaluations, the IB has developed a new framework that leverages an inquiry cycle of action research. This nascent, locally- driven inquiry/action research cycle can support the identification of innovative and impactful practices that could be scaled up to other schools (IB or not). IB is piloting a new focus on student wellbeing in partnership with IB schools through this new form of action research – both to help schools support wellbeing and to build out processes and capacity to scale innovative practices on other topics. This presentation will preview the design for this evidence-to-action framework and the IB’s plans to leverage rapid research to drive uptake and scale of innovative practices.
