Using networks to translate education research into improved practices and policies

Proposal

The School Action Learning Exchange (SALEX) is a recently-launched earning network of organizations (“aggregators”) around the world that are working to strengthen learning outcomes through school- and classroom-level engagements and support. SALEX members undertake joint learning, collaboration, research, and advocacy that is oriented towards building and promoting the uptake of evidence by SALEX members, schools, and policymakers. This knowledge generation and amplification is oriented towards implement promising school- and teacher-level approaches ultimately aimed at improving holistic learning outcomes of each child. In this presentation, we will share how SALEX is leveraging a range of modalities to promote the dissemination of evidenced-based education policies and practices, both among its members and outside of its network. We will also offer a selection of findings from a global landscaping of other networks’ efforts to translate evidence to impact while offering and will conclude by highlighting a synthesis of findings from an initial round of internal learning sessions focusing on the key questions posed by this panel: what do we know about what works in translation education research to impact, what do we know doesn’t work, and what can we do to collaborate with other education researcher to improve translation efforts.
