Thu, March 7, 4:15 to 5:45pm, Zoom Rooms, Zoom Room 104

Proposal

With the rapid advancement of the intelligent information society, AI technologies, such as machine learning and deep learning, have witnessed significant progress, becoming the core elements of this transformative era. As AI continues to permeate all aspects of life, it has emerged as a critical factor in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, effectively mirroring human intellectual abilities. In light of this profound influence, educational systems worldwide are undergoing substantial transformations to effectively adapt to the changes engendered by AI technology. South Korea, too, recognizes the urgency of developing an innovative educational model capable of responding to technological shifts, particularly the impact of AI, by fostering talent suited for the digital transformation era.

In this context, this study aims to revitalize AI-based education and devise measures to promote its adoption in South Korea. To conduct the investigation, the research employs a comprehensive approach, incorporating insights from related prior studies, and formulates a set of questionnaire items aligned with the aforementioned educational issues. It focuses on key issues such as “data management and standardization”, encompassing “AI digital textbooks”, “AI tutoring systems”, and the “AI assistant teacher system”. By using the Borich demand analysis method and The Locus for Focus model, the study gauges the perception and demand for AI-based education.

The findings of this study offer empirical evidence to formulate policy tasks for South Korea’s future education. In conclusion, this study makes a significant contribution to the education landscape in South Korea by shedding light on the challenges and opportunities posed by AI-based education. By examining key issues and soliciting insights from experts in the domain, the study serves as a guidepost for formulating policies that effectively harness AI technology to enhance and enrich the educational experience of learners in the digital era. As the world continues to grapple with the implications of AI’s pervasive influence, it is imperative that educational systems proactively adapt to this new reality, and this study takes a vital step in that direction.
