The second case study will be from a coalition of more than 70 education focused civil society organizations working in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. In the last 6 years, this coalition has built a platform to collaboratively generate evidence to support education improvement in the region. As a case study for ‘All Hands on Deck’ it shows us the importance of collective voice and evidence in building trust and collaboration between state and non-state actors.
A representative from this coalition will present their reflections as the original funder for this network. The presentation will chart the history of the coalition and some of its key successes. It will then reflect on the importance of coalition building as an approach to building engagement. Finally, the representative will reflect on the role of philanthropy in catalyzing coalition building, and what they have learned from the process of playing that role effectively.
