Continuing work begun under [PROGRAM A], the [DONOR]-funded, [ORGANIZATION]-implemented [PROGRAM B] is working in the LAC region (Guatemala, Honduras, and Paraguay) to support higher education institutions (HEIs) to go beyond access, and become more responsive to youth generally and to marginalized youth specifically. The goal of [PROGRAM B] is to build local capacity to support young people from marginalized groups (young women, indigenous youth, rural youth, youth with disabilities, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community, among others) to enroll in, stay in, and graduate from higher education programs that meet their needs, and to successfully transition to the next phase of their lives. [PRESENTER A], [PROGRAM B'S] Guatemala-based Chief of Party, will share how these objectives are being met through an evidence-based holistic framework to support design of institutional services (from remediation, to tutoring, to mental health) to address the specific needs of different groups of marginalized students, in each of the different country implementation contexts.
The presentation will draw from a forthcoming literature review, research brief, and framework on Student Services for Inclusive Access and Retention in Higher Education (working title).
