The Politics of Hate: Organizing
Against Racism and for
Educational Justice in Florida
Florida legislators have recently advanced
a cascade of laws severely undermining
the rights of people of color, immigrants,
women and LGTBQ+ people. In the K-12
and higher education system, these
attacks have included anti-trans and
anti-Black legislation, book banning,
and curbing university academic
freedom. This keynote panel will include
community organizers on the front lines
of the struggle against racism and for
education justice in Florida. Panelists
will discuss how recent legislation has
impacted Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and
LGBTQ+ communities as well as educators
in the K-12 and higher education systems.
Panelists will also share first-hand
accounts of their organizing efforts for a
more racially, socially, and economically
just state.
