Education in Kyrgyzstan: Challenges and Perspectives

Proposal

The education system of Kyrgyzstan is experiencing different modes of function starting from the old inherited Soviet system up to the Bologna system of education, thus, providing a different quality of education to its young citizens. There have been different educational reforms and projects, some successful, some not. Some private educational institutions were successfully able to adopt the new Bologna system, work with it and directed the improvement of its education quality. This panel will provide first-hand research and teaching experiences from the higher university levels, college and other extra-curricular projects directed to contribute to the development of the youth. Authors will present the research results and practical cases of how digitalization process (with offering new digital skills) of higher education system, how standardized tests contributed to education quality, how college education became popular and demanded, how transforming economies in Central Asia is taking place through work integrated learning partnership and how a new liberal arts education tradition has been introduced to Kyrgyzstan. Challenges and perspectives with critical analysis of the current education system of Kyrgyzstan and Central Asia related to above-mentioned topics will be discussed by all roundtable speakers.
