The Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo benefited from significant donor funding to implement a program that aligns with the priority objectives of the SSEF Education and Training Sector Strategy, aiming to improve and make more secure and equitable the conditions of access to studies, in particular for girls, as well as the conditions of teaching and training. learning in public secondary education establishments, in the ten targeted provinces. The project will therefore rely on new technologies to improve access to quality and inclusive education, especially for girls by providing:
• The development of digital courses which correspond to school textbooks and digital learning objects such as animations and three-dimensional models for the various courses for teachers and students
• The two-phase acquisition of IT equipment for a multipurpose Smart Lab in approximately 388 schools in five provinces (Ituri, Kasaï, Kasaï Central, Kasaï Oriental and Ituri). The first phase of acquisition will involve one school per district (128 districts in total), each of which will operate as a School of Excellence (EdE) focused on improving teaching effectiveness and learning, including through the development and provision of digital skills and resources to teachers and students.
• The acquisition of computer equipment for digital classrooms and (if necessary) a charging system for each of the approximately 5,700 secondary schools in the five main target provinces which will not be equipped with a Smart Lab. The equipment will include digital devices and projectors that teachers can use as a teaching and learning resource. Devices will be preloaded with content as described above.
