Impact Evaluations in Emergency Settings: Lessons and Insights

Mon, March 24, 4:30 to 5:45pm, Palmer House, Floor: 3rd Floor, Salon 2

Proposal

IRC will present findings from a review of 59 rigorous impact evaluations of education interventions conducted in conflict and protracted crisis settings over the past 25 years, which was carried out as part of the Education Research in Conflict and Protracted Crisis (ERICC) programme. We will present evidence from ECD, middle childhood, adolescence, and youth interventions mapped against enrolment, literacy, numeracy, social emotional learning and mental health outcomes, which identify interventions for which there is a strong, moderate and emerging body of research. For different types of interventions we examine effect sizes, data on their cost, and information from the different types of settings in which they have been delivered, to identify interventions for which there is strong, moderate and emerging evidence of impact on cost-effectiveness in conflict and protracted crisis settings.
