The presentation will focus on how the STEPS project demonstrated the potential of combining Open Educational Resources (OER) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the development of high-quality, culturally relevant Science textbooks for primary school. The use of OER as a foundation for curriculum development allowed for the rapid development of resources, enabling STEPS to produce a much larger volume of materials than initially planned. AI tools assisted in drafting initial content based on each country’s curriculum requirements, suggested culturally relevant examples and contexts, and aided in the translation and localization of materials.
