This presentation will explore the role of digital public goods in education to bridge the digital divide. The presentation will discuss how the growth of connectivity and the widespread use of devices and digital applications are pushing forward digital transformations in education management at a rapid pace. Data collection and analysis powered and automated by technology have created numerous educational benefits and innovations in everything from building schools and allocating teachers, to instruction and assessment. Close to real-time individualized data are starting to provide insights into how and whether individual students are learning and what kind of tutoring they need. However, rapid technology advances also have the potential to introduce new divides and marginalization. Furthermore, data intensive education management requires significant upscaling of national data governance, data use, and data management capacities to produce desirable outcomes.
