Collaborative Peace Pedagogies at (University)

• In Event: Lifting the Possibilities of Co-creation in Peace and Leadership Education

Proposal

This paper will discuss attempts to disrupt hierarchies in higher education (Williams Huskic, & Noto, 2024) through fostering collaboration and co-creation among students and faculty at (University). Furthermore the paper situates collaboration and co-creation as a praxis of disrupting and healing from toxic individualism that is a facet of modernity and the story of separability (Machado de Oliveira, 2021) and fostering and remembering interbeing and entanglement (Knox Steiner, 2024). The paper will highlight several specific examples and most importantly, the processes that went into them:
* Co-creation of a course syllabus on Contemporary Topics in Peace Education
* Co-authoring of a paper on pedagogies for peace, and two subsequent conference presentations on the co-authorship process
* A transdisciplinary campus-wide collaborative peace poetry workshop that led to publication in a poetry anthology (forthcoming)
The focus of these examples will entail more of the process of co-creation itself and how space was created for such collaboration to occur.
