Abstract

ChatGPT and other generative AI applications have thrust the use of AI to the forefront of public awareness and business interest. This study develops a multi-layered framework to effectively manage AI technologies and applications, including their risks and benefits, based on multiple case studies. The framework is built on the varying roles that AI plays in replacing or augmenting human capabilities, and in creating new ones. It also addresses the challenges in measuring the business impact of AI applications while creating a process to mitigate known and emerging risks. An empirical research agenda is then proposed.
