Exploration of chronic non-communicable respiratory conditions in Texas newspapers

Abstract

Chronic non-communicable respiratory conditions have become a health issue. News media can play a role in raising awareness about this issue. However, local news media gets less attention, contrary to national news media from researchers. Therefore, this research focuses on the coverage of respiratory conditions in Texas newspapers. We will collect relevant news pieces and perform content analysis to have a perspective. The results will provide insights into how such a health condition is framed in Texas newspapers. Health policymakers can gain ideas from these news frames about what they need to do to address this issue.
