AI, Learning, and Academic Integrity

• In Event: INNOVATIVE EDUCATION: Applications of ChatGPT in the Classroom (II)

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence is radically changing the ways we approach adult learning in academia and what is needed to be successful in the workplace. How can we effectively use AI our classrooms/labs; differentiate between required knowledge/skills and information easily provided by tools; and define the appropriate use of AI versus academic dishonesty. Embracing AI does not mean that foundational knowledge/skills are no longer needed but are more important than ever as we need knowledge to evaluate the information provided by AI. As we update our curriculum and personal knowledge/skills to ensure we are prepared to teach the new generation of learners.
