Bridging Uncertainty through Inter-organizational Coordination: Evidence from Coordinated Adaptation

Sun, November 23, 10:00 to 11:30am, Orlando World Center Marriott, Crystal F

Abstract

We examine how firms navigate uncertainty in their operational environments. Utilizing micro-level data, we empirically analyze the varying strategies employed by firms in response to uncertainty. This study enhances the understanding of supply chain risk management by introducing the concept of coordinated adaptation within supply networks. Our findings indicate that in scenarios requiring intense coordination among suppliers, a more centralized and controlled supply chain network structure is more effective in adapting to uncertainty.
