Interplay between resolution tactics of a supplier-induced disruption: A configurational approach

Sat, November 22, 10:00 to 11:30am, Orlando World Center Marriott, Canary 3

Abstract

While past research suggests both procedural justice (PJ) and distributive justice (DJ) can repair damaged relationship trust after a supplier-induced disruption, these tactics are often studied in isolation despite their combined use in practice. Juxtaposing fairness heuristics theory with motivation-hygiene theory, our research suggests that the two justice tactics can present distinct dynamics via either mechanism depending on a set of key contextual conditions that feature buyer traits and disruption characteristics. Our configurational approach reveals three configurations leading to successful repair, showcasing the causal complexity in the phenomenon.
