Thu, September 12, 9:30 to 10:45am, Faculty of Law, University of Bucharest, Floor: 1st floor, Room 2.22

Abstract

The presentation will discuss the research results obtained as a result of the analysis of 220 criminal cases conducted against people accused of crimes related to CSAM and/or sexual abuse of children in cyberspace. The analysis used a detailed survey covering issues regarding the profile of the perpetrator, the harmed child, the course of criminal proceedings, as well as the role of forensic experts in the criminal trial. The study can be called a unique attempt to capture the image of the phenomenon of child sexual abuse, thanks to which it will be possible to propose specific recommendations, including in the area of policy. As an example, one of the observations concerns the problematic activity of the so-called "pedophile hunters", who surprisingly often actively engage in various types of provocative activities.
The theoretical part of the research report along with the survey will be translated into English to provide inspiration for similar projects in other countries.
