Thu, September 4, 5:30 to 6:45pm, Communications Building (CN), CN 3111

Abstract

As a specific crime that emerged during a unique period, the crackdown on PPP Loan fraud is nearing its conclusion. However, the investigation and sentencing processes of this crime have presented numerous perspectives that merit further exploration. One significant aspect is the role of digital evidence in the investigation and sentencing of PPP Loan fraud. To explore sentencing patterns, we conducted an in-depth empirical analysis of district court cases (N=110) related to PPP Loan fraud. Additionally, we categorize and summarize the role and function of digital evidence in the sentencing of PPP Loan fraud, providing theoretical support for examining the status and role of digital evidence in judicial prosecution.
