Life after life – everyday problems of people under preventive supervision in Poland.

Abstract

Preventive supervision is a post-penal freedom measure. It was introduced into the Polish legal system on the basis of the Act of November 22, 2013 on dealing with people with mental disorders posing a threat to life, health or sexual freedom of other people. The second, isolating, is isolation in the National Center for the Prevention of Dissocial Behavior (KOZZD).
Preventive supervision, in practice, is applied, firstly, to people who, after completing their prison sentence, still pose a threat to others, but not serious enough to require isolation. Secondly, to people who were released from KOZZD, where post-penal isolation was applied to them, and now have a chance to live in society again.

A paper on problems related to the daily functioning of people under preventive supervision. The conclusions presented are based on the results of research into court case files concerning the implementation of preventive supervision and interviews with persons subject to preventive supervision.
