A substantial corpus of participant interview data now presents a unique opportunity for new insights into the effectiveness of the focused deterrence intervention being delivered across five UK cities. This paper will use computational techniques, including structural topic modelling, to surface and interpret the underlying factors driving the observed prevalence of thematic content related to both deterrence application and support provision. The paper will explore how these themes interact with contextual covariates associated with centralised (police-led) and decentralised (statutory-voluntary partnership) intervention delivery models. The findings offer a more nuanced understanding of the mechanisms likely to influence intervention delivery and fidelity and will have relevance for all community-based violence prevention interventions.
