Thu, September 4, 6:45 to 8:00pm, Other Venues, Poster Venue

Abstract

In the framework of the EU-funded project Assessing the Risk of Isolation of Suspects and Accused (ARISA), an interactive and multidisciplinary training programme has been developed for professionals from the judicial and penitentiary system. This project brings together specialists in social work, law, psychology and criminology from Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Portugal and Spain, with the aim of strengthening the competencies of those working with children in vulnerable situations.
The course provides key knowledge and practical tools to promote a child rights-based approach, trauma-informed care, rehabilitation and social reintegration. This paper presents the main contents of the programme, including the legal framework of child protection, intervention strategies and psychosocial support, as well as good practices in correctional and judicial settings. It also details the methodology used for its design and implementation, highlighting its participatory approach, the flexibility of online learning and the adaptation to the needs of the professionals involved. Finally, the main results obtained will be presented, analysing the impact of the training on the capacity building of the participants, the challenges encountered and the opportunities for improvement for future training initiatives in the field of juvenile justice.
