As illegal waste markets continue to expand globally, it is crucial to assess existing criminological research on this phenomenon. This systematic literature review, conducted using the PRISMA method, examines criminological studies on the illicit trade of electronic and electrical waste (e-waste). The research includes online publications available in English and French, encompassing scientific articles, reports, books, book chapters, and relevant press articles. The primary sources were databases such as Scopus, Google Scholar, Web of Science Core Collection, and Consensus, supplemented by expert recommendations and article suggestions. Out of 440 identified documents, 80 were selected after a thorough evaluation for qualitative and quantitative analysis. This study provides a comprehensive overview of methodological approaches, data sources, and global regions explored in criminological research on this expanding illicit market.
