This study analyzes how discussions and debates on Twitter have influenced the reform of the Comprehensive Guarantee of Sexual Freedom Law, known as the "Solo sí es sí" Law, and their relationship with the arguments put forward by legislators in Parliament. Through a content analysis of Twitter comments and parliamentary debates, the research examines how narratives emerging in the digital public sphere gain resonance, generate support or rejection, and ultimately impact institutional discourse and policy-making.
The study identifies the main discursive trends on social media and compares them with the justifications used in Parliament, allowing for the detection of convergences, divergences, and dynamics of influence between both spaces. Although the analysis starts from the influence of social media on institutional discourse, it ultimately reveals a circular relationship in which parliamentary debates also shape discussions on Twitter, creating a continuous cycle of discursive exchange.
The findings provide a critical perspective on the role of Twitter as a debate arena that, while not always conducive to in-depth discussions on criminal law, has proven to be a key factor in shaping criminal policy and legitimizing legislative reforms.
