The effectiveness of Security Vetting processes: South African National Defence Force context

Abstract

The cornerstone of every organisation is to conduct an effective security vetting processes to minimise the risk of questionable integrity. Misconduct by employees put an organisation in disrepute. The purpose of this research was to examine the effectiveness of the security vetting processes in the South African National Defence Force (SANDF). A qualitative research approach was employed to achieve the research objectives. The findings of this study reveals Unethical conduct, ill-discipline, lack of enforcement, policies and consequence management as the factors hindering effectiveness of security vetting process. Therefore, the study has recommended the SANDF management to review enforcement policy for ensuring compliance and establish monitoring and evaluation quarterly report.
